Instructor Certification
What are the levels of certification?
The PBIA recognizes four levels of instructors:
RECOGNIZED (Level 1)
CERTIFIED (Level 2)
ADVANCED (Level 3)
MASTER (Level 4)
The PBIA is the premier instructor certification organization in North America. The worlds top billiard instructors and coaches work together to improve our shared knowledge base, teaching tecqniques, technological advancements, and to create and to establish "Best Practices" for the development and growth of our sport.
Why do I want or need a certification?
Being an accredited instructor provides credibility. Prospective students will seek out an accredited instructor over the sea of players who claim to be "coaches", but have no certification or training.
Learn an effective structure for instruction. Learn Best Practices, how to create a lesson plan, how to develop a syllabus for a course of instruction.
Develop a professional network of colleagues, instructors of the highest caliber who are willing to share knowledge and experience.
The Recognized level of accreditation certifies that the instructor is qualified to teach begiiner or novice students. The focus is on teaching fundamentals.
Certified accretation allows the Instructor to teach all levels of students.
Instructors at the Advanced and Master Level of accreditation may certify and train other instructors as well as students of all skill levels.
Most entry level instructors begin at the Recognized Level. However, you may qualify for entry at a higher level of accreditization, depending on your experience and training.

Are all certification programs the same?
No, Instructor certification programs can be very different. What sets this certification program apart is the focus on Learning how to teach.
Upon completion of the course, the instructor a is expected to be able to:
Create a lesson plan
Structure a class
Design both individual and group instruction
Develop curriculum
Evaluate a players strengths and weaknesses and create an appropriate program for improvement
I earned my PBIA Instructor Certification through Roy, and his accreditation program completely changed the way I teach. His systematic approach to instruction gave me a clear structure for my lessons, improved my ability to communicate with students, and made me a far more effective instructor.
